Kaylie Estrela, a Step with Style graduate, feels so privileged to be a part of such a talented and commended faculty. She started her dance training at the age of three at Jennifer’s Arts in Motion where she trained in many genres of dance. She also trained at the National Ballet School of Canada’s certificate program where she had the chance to dance in James Kudelka’s the Nutcracker at the Hummingbird Centre. At the age of eleven she decided to further her knowledge by being accepted into and attending the National Ballet School of Canada’s professional training program. There Kaylie trained with some of Canada’s finest dance instructors and former professional dancers that left a lasting influence on her as a dancer.
Kaylie’s love for dance continued to present her with opportunities that led her to attend the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s summer intensive multiple times as well as train with the Quinte Ballet School of Canada as a part of their Professional Training Program. It was at the Quinte Ballet School that Kaylie was taught under the direction of John Ottman and Andrew Parker. Kaylie had the experience of working with and being taught by many other famous dancers and choreographers including Etienne Lavinge, Greta Hodgkinson, Alina Adjemian, Roberto Camponella, Gizella Witkowsky, Peter Ottman and many others. While attending the professional school Kaylie also danced in the Quinte Ballet School’s Nutcracker and their Swan Lake Production that was showcased in Belleville, Ontario, Canada.
Kaylie started her training at Step with Style at the age of fourteen where she was exposed to many types of dance including Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Acro, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Contemporary. Under the direction of Amanda Coatham and Alexander Chiffman, Kaylie improved a great deal technically as well as enhanced her performance abilities. While dancing with Step with Style Kaylie had many opportunities to work with well-known choreographers and dancers in the industry such as Tokyo, Twitch and Danny Lawn. Kaylie also takes part in many workshops and dance intensives to further her knowledge and training in dance. These include Fresh Dance Intensive, dance and dance film/photography workshops with Allen Kaeja and many more. Kaylie has performed in many shows and productions while at Step with Style and hopes to continue to do so. She has performed in “Whitby’s Got Talent” & “Santa’s Parade of Lights”
An outstanding performer Kaylie thrilled audiences with her lead role of “Fairy Fauna” the production of “Maleficent” choreographed and directed by Amanda Coatham.
Kaylie attended O’Neill Collegiate and Vocational Institute where she focussed much on choreography. With a double-major in Dance Performance and Music she had the opportunity to perform in many dance showcases including pieces of her own creative force in the “Creations Showcase”.
As an instructor Kaylie has much experience in preparing students of all levels for their performances. Working with both recreational and competitive levels, her attention to detail has helped each of her students achieve their personal best.
Kaylie’s passion for the performing arts has caused her to continue her dance education at the post-secondary level. She currently attends Ryerson University in Toronto for Performance Dance and continues to immerse herself in the dance world. The training she has received from Step with Style and the experience she has gained from all of the opportunities she has been presented make her a confident and caring instructor. She looks forward to share her knowledge and love for dance with her students while also learning and being inspired by them as well.
