Choose your commitment level:

Your decision, our support

Program Commitment Levels:

Q: Do I have to join the level the studio recommends, or can I stay at a lower level if my family isn’t ready?

A: At Step with Style, we prioritize your family’s comfort and needs. We work closely with parents to find the right program and commitment level based on your dancer’s schedule and readiness. If you're not ready to move up a level, we’re happy to wait until the time is right.

Selecting Competitive Routines & Financial Extras:

Q: Do I have to do a certain number of routines in the competitive program?

A: Each competitive program requires 1-2 routines, depending on age and skill level. There are no choreography fees for these routines. Any additional routines are optional and are based on what the family feels comfortable with, known as the “magic number.” Families can share their magic number in a meeting with the director or via email.

"Can I request a specific solo or song?"

We welcome requests for solo genres, songs, and partners! If the request aligns with the dancer's ability and the partner is a suitable match, we’ll do our best to accommodate. We carefully consider music choices and will only approve songs that can help the dancer perform at their best. If a dancer isn’t excited about a song, we’ll keep searching until we find something both the teacher and student love.

Example "Magic Number":

3 groups (She really doesn’t want ___, but anything else is fine!)

1 duet, hip hop, partner with Suzie

1 solo, preferably jazz

While we encourage families to consider our staff's recommendations, we always ensure both the dancer and instructor are excited about the project for the best results. At Step, training is our priority, and extra routines are optional based on your dancer’s readiness.

Costume Policy:

Q: I’ve heard of studios charging $400-500 for solo costumes. Is this the case at Step with Style?

A: No, we do not require parents to purchase expensive new costumes for solos, duets, or trios. We encourage families to find costumes from consignment shops or online for a fraction of the price. Designs must be approved by the choreographer before purchase. If you prefer a new costume or need a custom one, we can work with a seamstress, but the cost will be much lower than $400-500. Additionally, we reuse recital and group costumes for shows and competitions, helping to save costs.
